Photographer, Writer, Film maker, and Creative Director of 1922 magazine

I was born in Crumpsall Hospital like most of us round here, lived in Moston ’til I was about 6, then higher Blackley ’til I was 16, and I’ve lived in Harpurhey since then.

Living here is all I’ve known and as much as I hate how it’s been left to rot, it feels like home, and there’s a lot of good people trying to make it better.

What do you do creatively?

I’m a Photographer, Creative director of 1922 magazine, a writer and sometimes film.

Where do you usually create or share your work?

I’m usually out in the streets of North Manchester somewhere if I’m taking photos, or sat in my room with a pile of magazines and 100 tabs open.

I share my work online but I much prefer sharing work in physical format – like the magazine. Things that can be held, and shared and kept are more important to me than trying to beat the algorithm.

What role do you think creativity plays in our community?

I hope it uplifts other creative people in the area and connects people in the community who wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity. Magazines are a good vehicle for this as they open up people to new perspectives and life experiences.

The more we learn from each other the more we build community.

What piece of creative work/project are you most proud of?

Making 1922 and getting our launch event at factory international.

It got a load of talented people from north Manchester on one stage, Palestine protest pics up on the big screen and everyone being paid was exactly what I wanted from 1922 so that was mint.
